Bio Ethanol Yield of Arundo donax

Here is an interesting article on "Use of poor quality water to produce high biomass yields of giant reed (Arundo donax L.) on marginal lands for biofuel or pulp/paper".

According to this paper the comparative bio ethanol yield (L/ha) of biomass are:

  • Arundo donax - 11,000 L/ha
  • Corn - 4,400 L/ha
  • Sugarcane - 8,800 L/ha
  • Switchgrass - 4,600 L/ha
They have also given the profit and benefit-cost analyses (BCA) for two potential Adx enterprises in South Australia.
